Tusk: “No more words – time for action!”
Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk has unveiled a three-step action plan for the European Union in response to the situation in Ukraine. He made the announcement on social network X,The Guardian reports .
The main points of Tusk’s proposal:
- Financing aid to Ukraine from frozen Russian assets.
- Strengthening air patrols, security of the Baltic region and protection of the EU’s borders with Russia.
- Urgent adoption of new financial rules to strengthen Europe’s security and defence.
“No more words, it’s time to act! Now!” Tusk stressed.
Reaction to the threat of a change in US policy
His statement came amid fears that the administration of US President Donald Trump may reduce or stop supporting Ukraine. Earlier, Tusk warned that the West could not allow Ukraine’s “forced surrender”, as this would mean the defeat of the entire Western community.
Donald Trump has recently been actively re-establishing contacts with the Kremlin and repeating key messages of Russian propaganda. He has accused Ukraine of war, called Volodymyr Zelenskyy a “dictator” and said that Kyiv should have reached an agreement with Moscow before the full-scale invasion.
Zelensky responds to Trump
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy responded to Trump’s statements by noting that the former US president is under the influence of Russian disinformation. At the same time, he expressed hope that pragmatism would prevail in Washington.
