Brasilia, Brazil – Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva has sharply criticised former US President Donald Trump, accusing him of seeking to interfere in the internal affairs of other countries. This is reported by the AFP news agency.
“He wants to control the whole world”
In his statement, Lula da Silva emphasised Trump’s dangerous ambitions, saying:
“He is trying to interfere in the affairs of all countries and influence the policies of other states. He wants to become the emperor of the whole world.”
The Brazilian leader’s comments come after Trump’s recent statements in which he criticised Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, calling him a “dictator without elections” and accusing him of being responsible for Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
Lula: “Respect for sovereignty is the key to peace”
The Brazilian president called on US politicians to respect the sovereignty of other countries and refrain from interfering in their internal affairs.
“The world needs peace and diplomacy, not leaders who try to dictate their will to everyone else. The sovereignty of each country must be inviolable,” Lula da Silva stressed.
International reaction to Trump’s statements
Trump’s rhetoric on Ukraine has sparked a wave of criticism in the international community. Leaders of several European countries have also condemned his remarks against Zelenskyy, calling them “irresponsible” and “dangerous”.
Analysts note that Lula da Silva’s comments could further exacerbate tensions between the US and Brazil, especially given Brazil’s desire to remain neutral in global conflicts.
