Ukrainian banks issued 434 loans to SMEs for UAH 2.2 billion in January

In January 2025, Ukrainian banks issued 434 loans to micro, small and medium-sized businesses for UAH 2.2 billion under the state guarantee programme on a portfolio basis, the Ministry of Finance of Ukraine reports.

Since December 2020, a total of 43,792 loans worth UAH 140.2 billion have been issued under this programme. As of 1 February 2025, 31 lending banks were servicing 21,928 loans worth UAH 75.4 billion, of which UAH 33.1 billion were partially secured by state guarantees.

We remain the leader in terms of the number of loans under state guarantees:

  • Privatbank – 14,828 loans for UAH 23.2 billion (62% of the limit);
  • Oschadbank – 2,973 loans for UAH 11.1 billion (52%);
  • Ukrgasbank – 943 loans for UAH 10.4 billion (68%).

The largest volume of loans is serviced in Kyiv (UAH 10 billion), Dnipro (UAH 5.9 billion), Lviv (UAH 5.6 billion) and Kyiv (UAH 4.7 billion) regions.

By type of economic activity, the largest number of loans were granted:

  • Agriculture – 4,819 loans for UAH 28 billion;
  • Wholesale and retail trade – 9,338 loans for UAH 20.4 billion;
  • Processing industry – 4,005 loans for UAH 19.5 billion;
  • Transport and logistics – 1,215 loans for UAH 2.6 billion;
  • Construction – 618 loans for UAH 1.8 billion.

Thus, state support for micro, small and medium-sized businesses through portfolio guarantees continues to play an important role in financing entrepreneurs in Ukraine.
