Iryna Kormyshkina, MP from the Servant of the People party, submitted a letter of resignation

Kyiv, UkraineServant of the People MP Iryna Kormyshkina, who was previously suspected by the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU ) and the Specialised Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office (SAP), has submitted a letter of resignation from her parliamentary seat. This was reported by MP Oleksiy Honcharenko on his Facebook page.

What is known about the application?

According to Goncharenko, Kormyshkina’s resignation is now to be considered by the Verkhovna Rada’s Regulatory Committee, after which a vote on her resignation will be held in parliament.

“The Regulatory Committee will consider the application in the near future, and then the floor is open to the Rada,” Goncharenko said.

The charges against Kormyshkina

On 7 October 2024, law enforcement officers served Iryna Kormyshkina with a notice of suspicion of illicit enrichment in the amount of over UAH 20 million. According to the investigation, the MP was unable to explain the source of the significant funds that were spent on real estate, cars and other expensive assets.

Precautionary measures and guarantors

The court imposed a preventive measure on Kormyshkina in the form of a personal guarantee. Her guarantors were:

David Arakhamia isthe head of the Servant of the Peoplefaction in the Verkhovna Rada.

Vitaliy Kim, head of the Mykolaiv Regional Military Administration.

Second suspicion and suspicion of the husband

In January 2025, the NABU and the SAPO served Kormyshkina with another suspicion, this time of entering false information in her electronic asset declaration. According to the investigation, she concealed several properties and large amounts in her accounts.

On 23 January, the husband of Iryna Kormyshkina was also notified of suspicion in the case, accused of attempting to legalise illegally acquired property.

What’s next?

If the Verkhovna Rada votes to dismiss Kormyshkina, she will lose her parliamentary immunity and be prosecuted on a general basis.

It is not yet known whether the parliament will agree to grant Kormyshkina’s application, but sources in the Servant of the People party report growing pressure on the party to purge its ranks of scandalous figures.
