On the night of 23-24 February, Russia carried out one of the most massive drone attacks on the territory of Ukraine. The enemy launched 185 Shahed attack drones and imitation drones from different directions – Orel, Bryansk, Kursk, as well as from the temporarily occupied Crimea. This was reported by the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in a Telegram .
The Ukrainian Defence Forces gave a worthy response: 113 enemy drones were destroyed thanks to the coordinated work of aviation, anti-aircraft missile troops, electronic warfare units and mobile fire groups.
Drones were shot down in 12 regions of Ukraine: Kharkiv, Poltava, Sumy, Kyiv, Chernihiv, Cherkasy, Kirovohrad, Khmelnytsky, Mykolaiv, Odesa, Kherson and Dnipro regions.
Another 71 enemy UAVs were lost locally, i.e. they did not reach their targets without causing damage.
The attack resulted in damage in Dnipropetrovs’k, Odesa, Kyiv and Khmelnytsky regions. Details on the damage and casualties are being updated.
This night once again demonstrated that Ukrainian air defence is capable of effectively repelling aggressor attacks, but the threat remains, and Ukraine needs to further strengthen its air defence.
