Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov has accused the European Union of being unwilling to end the war in Ukraine, saying that Brussels allegedly “persistently supports the military path” while the United States “analyses the causes of the conflict”. This was reported by the Russian news agency TASS.

Peskov said that Moscow is currently engaged in a dialogue with Washington and hopes that the new administration of Donald Trump will “really look into the reasons” for the war. At the same time, he accused the EU of blindly following the sanctions policy, which, in his opinion, “destabilises Europe”.

Such statements by the Kremlin coincide with the change of power in the United States, where the new administration may change the course of support for Ukraine. In particular, Donald Trump has openly criticised Volodymyr Zelenskyy and announced his intention to cut military aid to Kyiv.

At the same time, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said that Moscow was ready for negotiations, but only on terms that satisfy it. The Russian authorities continue to demand the consolidation of the occupation of Ukrainian territories, presenting it as a “peaceful settlement”.

Such messages from the Kremlin are part of a broader information campaign aimed at dividing European partners and creating tension between the US and the EU. Western leaders have repeatedly emphasised that Russia seeks to use negotiations as a tool to retain seized territories and rebuild its military forces.
