The European Union has offered Ukraine to conclude an agreement on the supply of critical materials that are strategically important for European industry. This was stated by European Commissioner for Industrial Strategy Stefan Sejourne during a visit to Kyiv, Politico reports.

According to him, the EU is seeking to expand cooperation with Ukraine in this area, as the country has significant mineral reserves that are essential for the European economy.

“21 of the 30 critical minerals that Europe needs can be provided by Ukraine in a mutually beneficial partnership… Europe’s added value is that we will never ask for a deal that is not mutually beneficial,” Sejourne said.

The specific resources that may be included in the agreement, as well as its details, have not yet been disclosed. However, this step could become an important element of the economic partnership between Ukraine and the EU, facilitating the country’s integration into the European single market.

The European Commission’s visit to Kyiv took place on the occasion of the third anniversary of Russia’s full-scale invasion. One of the main topics of the meetings between European and Ukrainian officials was cooperation in the field of strategic resources and economic support for Ukraine.
