President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy met with Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni in London, during which the parties focused on developing a joint action plan to achieve a just and sustainable peace in Ukraine. The Head of State reported this on the social network X (Twitter).

According to Zelenskyy, the talks were constructive and aimed at strengthening the unity of international support for Ukraine.

“No one is interested in the continuation and return of the war, except Putin. That is why it is important to maintain unity around Ukraine and strengthen our position in cooperation with our allies – the countries of Europe and the United States. Ukraine needs peace backed by reliable security guarantees. I am grateful to Italy for its constant support and partnership in bringing peace to Ukraine,” Zelenskyy said.

The meeting with Maloney took place amid growing concerns about the risks of a split among Western allies, which could weaken support for Ukraine in countering Russian aggression.

Earlier, the Italian prime minister had already stressed the importance of preserving the unity of the West and said that the UK and Italy could become key players in the process of establishing a dialogue between the United States and European countries.

George Maloney is also seen as a potential mediator between the US administration and the EU, as she was the only current European leader to attend Donald Trump’s inauguration.

In addition, the day before, she announced plans to initiate an emergency summit with the United States, European states and partners to discuss the situation in Ukraine and the global challenges facing the West amid the ongoing war.

This meeting in London was another important step in strengthening diplomatic coordination to ensure sustained support for Ukraine on its path to peace.
