Over the past year, high-ranking Russian missile technology experts paid a number of visits to Iran, including two underground missile production plants. This was reported by Reuters, citing sources in defence structures.

According to journalists, seven Russian experts arrived in Tehran on two separate flights on 24 April and 17 September 2023. All of them have military experience, including two colonels and two lieutenant colonels.

It is noted that two of these specialists specialise in anti-aircraft missile systems, three in artillery and rocketry, one is engaged in the development of advanced weapons, and another worked at a missile range.

According to booking documents, six out of seven Russians travelled on passports with the prefix “20”, which are used by civil servants and the military for official foreign trips.

It is known that some of these visits took place in September, when Iran was in a phase of active confrontation with Israel, which was accompanied by mutual strikes in April and October.

A representative of the Iranian Ministry of Defence confirmed that Russian specialists had inspected several missile production facilities, including underground complexes.

In addition, sources in Western defence structures reported that in September, a group of Russian experts visited one of Iran’s key missile bases near the port of Amirabad on the Caspian Sea coast.

Cooperation between Iran and Russia in the military-technical sphere has significantly intensified since the beginning of Russia’s full-scale war against Ukraine, and Iran continues to be one of the main suppliers of weapons to the Russian army.
