On the night of 5 March 2025, Ukraine repelled one of the largest air attacks in recent months. According to the Air Force press service on its Telegram channel, Russian troops attacked Ukraine simultaneously with three Iskander-M/KN-23 ballistic missiles, a S-300 anti-aircraft guided missile, 181 Shahed attack drones, and imitation drones of various models.

The attack began on the evening of 4 March at 19:30 and lasted all night. Enemy drones and missiles were launched from different directions: Orel, Kursk, Millerovo, Bryansk, Primorsko-Akhtarsk and occupied Crimea.

Aviation, anti-aircraft missile units, mobile firing groups and electronic warfare specialists provided air defence.

According to the latest information as of 09:30 am, the Ukrainian defenders were shot down:

– 115 Shahed attack drones and other drones;

– 55 simulated drones that were locally lost without causing damage to civilian infrastructure.

Despite the effective air defence, the consequences could not be avoided. Kyiv, Odesa, Dnipro and Kharkiv regions were affected, with damage to infrastructure and energy facilities.

This is the second massive Russian air attack on Ukrainian cities in recent days, indicating a new tactic to deplete air defence forces and attempt to cause maximum damage to critical infrastructure.

The Air Force calls on citizens not to ignore the alarms and to follow the safety rules as much as possible.
