On Wednesday, the French government denied a statement by government spokeswoman Sophie Prima that French President Emmanuel Macron might visit Washington, D.C., together with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and British Prime Minister Keir Starmer.
According to The Times, the Elysee Palace said that “at this stage” such a visit is not foreseen.
The government official’s previous statements sparked a lively debate in political circles, but the official denial from the Elysee Palace put the record straight.
France is expected to continue its active diplomatic efforts in support of Ukraine, but the question of a possible meeting of the leaders in Washington remains open.
