The SBU exposed and detained a Russian agent in the leadership of the State Space Agency of Ukraine. The enemy spy was caught right during a meeting at the Ministry of Strategic Industries.
The detainee had access to classified information about strategic enterprises and satellite data. Counterintelligence established that he passed on to the Russian FSB information about the locations of military-industrial enterprises, military warehouses and the production of high-precision weapons. According to preliminary data, Russian intelligence planned to use this information to prepare air strikes on critical facilities in Ukraine.
According to the investigation, the traitor was recruited by the FSB in 2024 through his wife, who lives in Rostov-on-Don and cooperates with the occupiers. He agreed to cooperate in exchange for a financial reward and planned to move to Russia after retirement.
SBU counterintelligence documented all his contacts with the FSB and also used the agent to pass disinformation to Russian special services. During the searches, the SBU seized his mobile phone with encrypted chats in messengers, which he used to communicate with his handlers.
He has now been served a notice of suspicion under Part 2 of Article 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (high treason committed under martial law). The court will soon choose a measure of restraint. The traitor faces life imprisonment with confiscation of property.
The operation was conducted by the SBU jointly with the Prosecutor General’s Office.
