Massacres of Alawites in Syria
More than 300 civilians from the Alawite minority have been killed by security forces and their allies as the new Syrian government continues to fight militants loyal to ousted President Bashar al-Assad. This was reported by AFP with reference to the Syrian Monitoring Centre.
Human rights activists said that after the fall of the Assad government in December, the new government faced one of the toughest challenges yet – the purge of supporters of the ousted regime.
