Large-scale accident in the North Sea: tanker and cargo ship collide, ships on fire

A tanker and a cargo ship collided in the North Sea off the northeast coast of England. This was reported on Monday by the British Maritime and Coastguard Agency, BBC reports.

According to the MarineTraffic website, the accident involved the American tanker Stena Immaculate, which was heading from the Greek port of Agioi Theodoroi and was anchored near the city of Gaul. At the same time, the cargo vessel Solong was headingfrom the Scottish port of Grangemouth to Rotterdam (Netherlands) and, according to preliminary data, collided with the tanker at around 09:48 GMT (11:48 Kyiv time).

Rescue operation: A coastguard rescue helicopter from Humberside, boats from Scenes, Bridlington, Mapplethorpe and Cleethorpes, as well as a coastguard aircraft and fireboats in the vicinity, were dispatched to the incident.
