The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine has adopted amendments to the Code of Ukraine on Administrative Offences regarding mobilisation. From now on, persons liable for military service who have not updated their personal data will be able to do so by paying a fine of UAH 8,500 through the Reserve+ system.
This was announced by MP Yaroslav Zheleznyak. According to him, before the second reading, the draft law was supplemented with a provision that exempts from liability citizens who have voluntarily enlisted in military service.
What is changing?
According to the explanatory note, as of 2024, more than 6 million people liable for military service had not updated their personal data. They were supposed to do so through Reserve+, ASCs or territorial recruitment centres (TRCs).
Previously, a fine of UAH 17,000 to UAH 25,500 was imposed for inaccurate data. The new amendments make it possible to update the information on your own and pay only 50% of the minimum fine, i.e. UAH 8,500.
How will it work?
- A person liable for military service who has not updated their data without a valid reason can initiate the process through Reserve+.
- After updating the information, the citizen pays a fine of UAH 8,500.
- This allows you to avoid the maximum penalty and officially comply with the requirements of the law.
Why is this important?
The main purpose of the amendments is to simplify the process of updating information for persons liable for military service and to avoid chaos in the CMC. The Parliament is also trying to encourage citizens to fulfil their duty without waiting for harsh sanctions.
The amendments are currently awaiting the President’s signature, after which the system of fines and data updates will start working in the new format.
