From 11 to 24 March 2025, 16 Ukrainian children from the frontline cities of Odesa and Kramatorsk, whose parents serve in the Armed Forces of Ukraine or are internally displaced persons, paid a charity visit to Israel. The programme was aimed at providing psycho-emotional support to children living in the realities of war, as well as at introducing them to the history and culture of the State of Israel.
This project has become a living example of international solidarity, humanism and the power of human support.
A journey that inspires
In two weeks, the children saw the shrines and monuments of Jerusalem, learned more about the architecture and rhythm of Tel Aviv-Jaffa, walked the historic streets of Nazareth and ancient Caesarea, and relaxed on the coast of Netanya. One of the most touching moments was a symbolic ablution in the Jordan River, a place considered sacred to Christians around the world.
Swimming in the Dead Sea, a unique natural phenomenon that gave the children moments of carefree joy, also left a lot of impressions.
Culture, inspiration and new horizons
In addition to the excursions, the children took part in cultural and educational activities, where they had the opportunity not only to learn more about Israel, but also to share their own stories. The meeting in Ashdod, where the Ukrainian diaspora hosted the children, was particularly warm. There they took part in a creative programme organised jointly with Ukrainian and Israeli cultural organisations.
For many of the participants, it was their first trip abroad, which will undoubtedly remain in their memory as a bright and inspiring experience.
When the world unites for children
The visit was made possible thanks to the joint efforts of diplomats, philanthropists and volunteers. In particular, the Embassy of Ukraine in Israel, the Help People Group Foundation, the Heritage of the Future Foundation, the Beit Allel organisation, the Ukrainian restaurant SHO?
The Embassy of Ukraine would like to express its sincere gratitude to everyone who contributed to the organisation of this important trip.
This journey is not just about tourism. It is about hope, trust and new horizons that open up even in the darkest of times. And perhaps these days in Israel were the first step towards a big dream for 16 Ukrainian children.
