Billionaire Elon Musk, who is a close adviser to US President Donald Trump, has offered the help of his technical experts to investigate the incident involving the journalist’s inclusion in a closed group at Signal, where US officials discussed strikes against the Houthis in Yemen. This was reported by White House Press Secretary Carolyn Levitt.

Jeffrey Goldberg, editor of the influential publication The Atlantic, published an investigation detailing how he accidentally became a participant in this chat, gaining access to classified information about future military operations.

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio called the incident a “serious mistake” and stressed that journalists should not have access to such conversations. Trump’s national security adviser, Mike Walz, took responsibility for the situation, but sharply criticised the journalist for disclosing the information.

This event sparked a new wave of discussions about the security of communications in US government agencies and potential threats of military data leakage.
