On 31 March 2025, a well-known American Christian preacher, Mark Burns, who is called the spiritual adviser to US President Donald Trump, visited Ukraine. This landmark event was announced on Facebook by Chief Rabbi of Ukraine Moshe Reuven Asman, who stressed the importance of the visit in strengthening support for Ukraine in the international arena.

Together with religious leaders, Burns travelled to the Kyiv region to visit the towns of Bucha, Irpin and Borodyanka. These places, liberated three years ago, have become symbols of the brutality and war crimes committed by the Russian army at the beginning of the full-scale invasion. The preacher did not just walk through the streets that still bear the scars of war – he saw with his own eyes the ruins left by the occupiers and heard the horrific stories of those who survived the occupation.

“He stood where the blood of innocents was shed, where peaceful life was crushed by the aggressor’s tanks. Witnesses’ memories of those dark days were heartbreaking. Mark Burns did not hold back his emotions – pain, indignation and sincere sympathy were evident on his face,” Moshe Asman shares his impressions.

According to the Chief Rabbi, this visit is not just a symbolic gesture. Mark Burns has a significant influence in the United States and plays an important role in shaping the new American policy. “He is someone who is listened to where the fate of the world is decided,” Asman said. What he sees in Ukraine, he believes, can be a decisive argument in a dialogue with the new American leadership.

“I believe that the voice of truth from Ukraine – the voice of those who have stood against all odds – will reach the very heart of America. And this voice will be heard,” the Chief Rabbi concluded, expressing hope that Burns’ visit will be an impetus for even greater support for Ukraine in its fight against the aggressor.

This journey of the American preacher has already sparked a lively discussion in religious and political circles. Time will tell whether Mark Burns will be able to bring the truth about the war in Ukraine to the White House. But one thing is already clear: this visit is another step towards ensuring that the world does not forget about the Ukrainian people’s struggle for freedom.
