China has called on the United States to cancel its new tariffs imposed by President Donald Trump and promised countermeasures to protect its economic interests. This comes after Trump announced a new 34% tariff on Chinese goods, in addition to the existing 20% duty. This was reported by Reuters.

In response, China’s Ministry of Commerce issued a statement stating that the United States was violating the balance of interests that had been achieved over the years in international trade negotiations and that the Chinese side “strongly opposes such measures”. China also confirmed its readiness to take the necessary countermeasures to protect its rights and interests in the face of global economic pressure.

Against the backdrop of these developments, a real trade conflict between the world’s two largest economies is once again unfolding in the economic world. The confrontation risks having serious economic consequences not only for the US and China, but also for global supply chains.

Trump did not stop at duties and also signed an executive order closing a so-called “loophole” in customs rules that allowed lower-value Chinese goods to enter the US without customs duties. According to the new rules, all goods coming from China are subject to additional duties, effective from 1 April.

These measures are part of Trump’s broader strategy to put maximum pressure on China, which, according to the US president, is not fulfilling its obligations under previous agreements. At the same time, experts point out that the new tariffs could have serious consequences for the global economy, including higher inflation and delays in the supply of goods to global markets.

However, according to analysts, China is increasingly diversifying its economic ties, reducing its dependence on the US market, and developing new trade routes in Asia, Europe and Africa, which helps to compensate for the losses from US tariffs.

The situation will remain tense, and Trump’s further steps could lead to an even greater escalation of the trade conflict, with global implications.
