Before the Passover holiday, thousands of residents of northern Israel received financial support from Bituach Leumi, the National Insurance Institute of Israel. These are one-time “return grants” intended for people who stopped living at the expense of the state after the evacuation, Cursorinfo reports.

Payments are already on the accounts

Applications were accepted on 19 March, and payments began on 4 April. More than 30,000 adults and 13,000 children have already received money. The total amount of funds transferred exceeded NIS 500 million.

The Bituch Leumi reminds us to check our bank accounts – the money is on its way to the recipients.

How much will they get?

Each beneficiary can expect to receive several thousand shekels, depending on their status and living conditions. The payments are part of the government’s programme to support citizens who have fled the war zone or evacuated regions.

Work in marathon mode

To make it in time for Pesach, Bituach Leumi employees worked around the clock. Applications submitted by 30 March have already been processed. For those who applied later, payments will be made next week.

Who will get it later?

Some categories, such as housing tenants, will receive payments after the holiday – additional document checks are provided for them.

Another type of assistance is “adaptation grants”

Since 27 March, applications for “adaptation grants”, another form of support for northerners, have been accepted. Applications are accepted online on the Bituach Leumi website, and payments are promised to be transferred before Passover if there are no delays.

Social signal and community support

“Return grants” are not just financial aid. It is a sign of support from the state for residents of frontline areas who have experienced stress, loss of housing or evacuation. Bituah Leumi promises that no citizen will be left behind.
