Khan Younis, 7 April – In a joint statement, the Israeli Defence Forces (IDF) announced the elimination of Hamas militant Hassan Abdel Fattah Mohammed Aslich, who was operating under the guise of a journalist and owned a press company.

Aslich was struck last night in the Khan Younis area. According to the IDF, he was an active member of the Khan Younis Brigade and infiltrated Israel on 7 October 2023, where he took part in a mass attack organised by Hamas. During the attack, he filmed footage of robberies, arson and murders, posting it on social media.

The IDF stresses that all possible measures were taken to minimise harm to civilians prior to the strike, including the use of precision munitions, close aerial surveillance and additional reconnaissance.

“The IDF will continue to act to neutralise any threat to Israeli citizens and our soldiers,” the statement said.

This incident once again highlights the complexity of the situation in the Gaza Strip, where militants often use civilian infrastructure as a cover for terrorist activities.
