Siemens executive and family killed in helicopter crash in New York

Agustin Escobar, the head of the European office of technology giant Siemens, his wife and three children were killed when a Bell 206 tourist helicopter crashed into the Hudson River in New York. The tragedy was reported by ABC News, citing law enforcement sources.

According to the investigation, Escobar, his wife, Merce Campruby Montal, and their children aged 4, 5 and 11 were on board. The pilot of the charter helicopter, a 36-year-old employee of New York Helicopters, whose identity has not yet been disclosed, also died with them.

The crash occurred during an inspection flight. According to preliminary data, the pilot did not send any distress signals. The US National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) is currently investigating the cause of the accident. Experts have already begun analysing the logbook and the technical condition of the helicopter.

Siemens has not yet officially commented on the death of one of its senior executives, but German media reports that Escobar headed a number of strategic areas in the field of digital solutions and automation for the European market.
