The Ukrainian delegation presented its version of the agreement on cooperation in the field of critical minerals to the United States. This was stated by Deputy Prime Minister for European Integration and Minister of Justice Olha Stefanishyna on the air of a national telethon, Time Ukraine Israel reports.
“This is already a positive signal that consultations are taking place. The Ukrainian delegation presented all the proposals that were prepared and agreed upon in Kyiv. All of them were discussed,” Stefanishyna said.
According to her, certain agreements have already been reached, but the parties have not yet signed the final agreement.
“This is not the final round of negotiations. We look forward to further progress and finalisation of the agreement,” she added.
Negotiations on a minerals agreement have intensified amid growing US attention to strategic resources and support for Ukraine. According to US media reports, the administration of President Donald Trump is considering potential agreements as a tool to partially “repay” the non-refundable aid to Ukraine previously approved by Congress.
In preparation for the negotiation process, Ukraine has allocated UAH 113 million from the state budget reserve fund to be used for consulting services to draft the agreement.
