US President Donald Trump said that he does not consider himself involved in the war in Ukraine and once again accused his predecessor Joe Biden and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy of “allowing” Russia’s full-scale aggression to begin.
The American leader wrote about this on 14 April on his social network Truth Social.
“The war between Russia and Ukraine is Biden’s war, not mine,” Trump said.
According to him, during his presidential term, he “had no problem preventing” the war. Trump is convinced that Zelenskyy and Biden “did an absolutely terrible job of allowing this farce to begin.”
“There were so many ways to prevent it from happening. But that’s in the past. Now we have to do everything we can to stop this war – and fast,” Trump wrote.
He also stated that he is now “working diligently to stop the death and destruction” in Ukraine.
Trump comments on the attack on Sumy
His statement came against the backdrop of a large-scale Russian missile attack on Sumy the day before. The attack by two ballistic missiles killed at least 35 civilians.
The day before, Trump had called the strike “terrible” but added a strange clarification:
“I was told that they made a mistake,” the US president wrote, without specifying who gave him this information.
It is worth reminding that during his campaign, Trump repeatedly stated that he “could end the war in Ukraine in 24 hours”, but he has not yet presented any specific plans or mechanisms for this process.
