The Israeli Defence Forces (IDF) and the Israel Security Agency (ISA) have jointly announced the elimination of Hamza Wael Muhammad Asafa, a key member of Hamas’ elite Nuhba unit who took part in the 7 October attack on Israel.

According to the army, the terrorist was killed approximately two weeks ago in a precision strike in the central part of the Gaza Strip. Asafa was the head of the terrorist cell of the Hamas Deir al-Balah battalion and was directly involved in a bloody attack against Israeli civilians.

In addition, he was recorded participating in cynical “liberation ceremonies” for Israeli hostages Eliyahu Sharabi, Ohad Ben-Ami and Ora Levy, who were held captive by Hamas.

Prior to the strike, the Israeli army took measures to minimise the risk to civilians by using aerial reconnaissance and other intelligence assets.

The IDF stressed that Hamas systematically violates international law by using civilian infrastructure and civilians as human shields to cover its terrorist activities.

The Israeli Defence Forces and the Security Service have stated that they will continue operations against Hamas until the terrorist threat is completely eliminated and to protect the citizens of the State of Israel.
