On Sunday evening, the Israeli Defence Forces (IDF) and the Internal Security Service (ISA) reported the successful elimination of a senior Hamas militant, Muhammad al-Ajlah, in a strike in the Shujaya area of the Gaza Strip.

According to an official statement, al-Ajlah replaced the previously killed Haytham Rizk Abd al-Karim Sheikh Khalil as commander of the Shuja’iyah battalion. Khalil was killed last week.

Al-Ajlah, who had previously commanded a combat support company, was responsible for supplying weapons to the battalion’s terrorists. These weapons were used in attacks against Israeli civilians and IDF soldiers.

Since the start of the war, Muhammad al-Ajlah became the fifth Hamas battalion commander in Shujaiya to be killed by Israeli forces, and the third since the resumption of hostilities in Gaza.

The military emphasises that before the attack, measures were taken to minimise harm to civilians: advance warnings, the use of precision weapons and aerial reconnaissance.

The IDF and the ISA have declared their determination to continue to act against Hamas’s terrorist infrastructure until the threats to Israel’s security are completely eliminated.
