Belgium will finance the restoration of Ukraine’s critical infrastructure worth €150 million by the end of 2028. This was announced by the Ministry of Communities and Territories Development.
The assistance is provided as part of the large-scale BE-Relieve Ukraine initiative, implemented through the Belgian development agency Enabel. The project will cover both the national level and specific regions – Kyiv, Kyiv and Chernihiv regions.
“BE-Relieve Ukraine is not just about aid. It is a strategic partnership based on the principle of ‘rebuilding better than before’. We are modernising critical infrastructure, preparing for winter, and creating an inclusive environment,” said Deputy Minister Kostyantyn Kovalchuk.
The main directions of the project:
- Delivery of 212 generators for educational institutions;
- Mobile boiler houses for hospitals and utilities;
- Repairing medical facilities, modernising the energy sector, and switching to decentralised heating systems;
- Development of vocational education, introduction of inclusive services and rehabilitation programmes.
It also provides for the implementation of reforms and deepening cooperation between Ukrainian and Belgian institutions.
