On Wednesday, 16 April, a terrorist attack was carried out on a tourist bus carrying US citizens near the Palestinian village of Burqa in the Samaria region. This was reported by Israeli Channel 7.

According to preliminary reports, the attackers threw stones and paint bottles at the vehicle while it was moving. As a result of the attack, two American tourists sustained minor injuries. Medics treated the victims on the spot, their condition did not require hospitalisation.

The Israeli Defence Forces and the police promptly arrived at the scene. A large-scale search operation was immediately launched with the involvement of additional units to detain those involved in the attack. In parallel, an investigation is underway to clarify all the circumstances of the incident.

The attack near Burka took place against the backdrop of a growing number of attacks against Israeli and tourist targets in Judea and Samaria. The day before, an armed terrorist opened fire with an M-16 rifle on a passenger bus in Ariel, having approached the attack site unimpeded by Israeli security forces, a route that is not subject to checks.

The incident with the tourist bus highlights the growing risk to foreign nationals in the conflict zone, especially as the security situation in the West Bank deteriorates.
