Russia’s massive night attack: Ukrainian Armed Forces shoot down 55 enemy drones, including 25 Shahed

On the night of 17 April, Russia carried out another massive attack on the territory of Ukraine, using ballistic missiles, anti-aircraft guided missiles and dozens of attack drones. This was reported by the Ukrainian Air Force.

According to official reports, the enemy attacked:

  • 2 Iskander-M ballistic missiles,
  • 3 S-300/S-400 anti-aircraft guided missiles,
  • 75 Shahed-type attack UAVs and various types of simulator drones.

The Ukrainian Defence Forces shot down 25 Shahed and other types of drones, and another 30 imitator drones were lost in the area, meaning they went off course and did not cause any damage. In total, 55 enemy drones failed to reach their targets.

The attacks were recorded in the eastern, northern, southern and central regions of Ukraine. Donetsk, Kharkiv, Sumy and Dnipro regions were under fire.

The occupiers launched missiles from the territory of the Rostov region of the Russian Federation and the temporarily occupied Luhansk region. Drones were attacked from the areas of Kursk, Millerovo and Cape Chauda in the temporarily occupied Crimea.

The air attack was repelled by units of aviation, anti-aircraft missile troops, electronic warfare and mobile fire groups of the Ukrainian Defence Forces.

Operational services are clarifying the impact of the strike, damage and possible casualties.
