The Israeli Defence Forces (IDF), together with the Israel Security Agency (ISA), continue active operations in the Gaza Strip aimed at destroying terrorist infrastructure and eliminating key figures of terrorist organisations.
On Tuesday, the IDF and ISA struck in the Khan Younis area, killing Yahya Fathi Abd al-Qader Abu Shaar, the head of Hamas’ weapons smuggling network. In recent years, he was responsible for the supply of weapons and military equipment to Gaza, including those used in the 7 October Hamas attack.
Last week, Mazen Ibrahim Mahfouz Farra, a key Islamic Jihad terrorist who has led numerous terrorist attacks in Israel over the past two years, especially in recent months, was killed in the same area.
Prior to the strikes, the IDF took a number of measures to minimise civilian harm, using precision munitions, aerial surveillance and additional intelligence.
Over the past two days, the Israeli Air Force has struck more than 110 terrorist infrastructure targets in Gaza, including terrorist cells, Hamas military installations and other facilities. On Wednesday, a key military post of the Hamas naval forces was destroyed in the area of Nusairat, which was used to plan attacks in the maritime zone against Israeli civilians.
In northern Gaza, IDF troops dismantled underground tunnels and mines of terrorist infrastructure. During the operations, several armed terrorists approaching the troops were eliminated by the Israeli Air Force. Terrorist facilities, tunnel mines and mortars were discovered and destroyed in Rafah. In the area of the Morag corridor and Rafah, the troops destroyed rocket launchers and underground facilities.
The IDF and ISA continue operations against terrorist organisations in Gaza to protect Israeli citizens.
