“Truce only after the complete elimination of the regime”: strong statement by the People’s Intelligence Agency in response to the Easter ceasefire

On 20 April, the People’s Intelligence Agency (PIA) published a high-profile statement on its Telegram channel, strongly condemning the idea of an Easter truce with Russia and calling Russian President Vladimir Putin a “global terrorist”.

“An Easter truce with a world-class terrorist? With someone who has killed and continues to kill Ukrainian children? With someone who turned the war into a religious genocide?” the statement reads.

The PIA categorically opposed any peace initiatives in the format of temporary pauses, stressing that no truce can be signed with a regime that is waging a genocidal war against Ukraine.

“Damn you, Putin, and your whole family. No forgiveness, only truth and retribution. Everyone who came to Ukraine with weapons, everyone who is conducting propaganda, everyone who is giving orders, does not deserve a ceasefire.”

The article emphasises that the only possible “truce” is the destruction of the Putin regime in all its manifestations:

“The truce is the liquidation of the regime. The truce is a complete cleansing of its roots. Only then will there be real peace.”

In conclusion, the authors of the message called for contacting them via a secure email address – [email protected], which probably indicates the coordination of certain intelligence or information activities.

Context:

The PIA statement comes on the heels of the Kremlin’s announcement of a unilateral 30-hour Easter ceasefire, which was met with distrust in Kyiv and criticism from Ukraine’s Western partners. According to the Ukrainian side, Russia continued its attacks even during the declared “ceasefire”.
