On the afternoon of 20 April, an army vehicle exploded in the village of Braika, northeast of Tyre (Nabatiyeh province), Lebanese sources report. The town is located about 15 km from the border with Israel.
According to preliminary reports, the explosion was caused by the detonation of ammunition in the vehicle. At least one person was reported dead and three wounded.
Also on the same day, the Israeli Air Force struck a car on a road in the Qaitrayat al-Sayyad area, located south of the city of Saida (Sidon). Lebanese sources claim that at least one person was killed in the air strike.
These incidents occurred against the backdrop of ongoing tensions between Israel and Hezbollah, which have intensified since the outbreak of the Gaza war and the almost daily shelling of northern Israel from Lebanon. Israel has repeatedly stated that it is eliminating Hezbollah militants and military targets in response to rocket attacks.
There are no official comments from the Israeli Defence Forces or the Lebanese Army.
