On Sunday, 21 April, the Israeli Defence Forces announced the successful elimination of one of the key figures of the Lebanese Hezbollah group, Hussein Ali Nasr, deputy commander of Unit 4400. The strike was carried out by the Israeli Air Force on the basis of accurate intelligence.
Smuggling and cooperation with Iran
According to the IDF, Hussein Ali Nasr played a leading role in smuggling weapons into Lebanon, handling logistics from Iran, including routes through Beirut International Airport. He had links with airport officials who acted on behalf of Hezbollah and facilitated the smuggling of weapons.
In addition, Nasr supervised smuggling operations on the Syrian-Lebanese border and participated in the purchase of weapons from local armed groups, coordinating the process of building the capacity of terrorist structures in the region.
Targeted operations
Since the beginning of the Iron Swords war and within the framework of Operation Northern Arrows, Israel has intensified its campaign against Hezbollah’s logistics infrastructure. The IDF systematically conducts targeted strikes against key command and logistics facilities of the terrorist organisation in order to disrupt the arms supply chain.
Earlier in the course of these operations, the commander of the 4400 unit, Muhammad Jafar Kasir, and his previous deputy, Ali Hasan Garib, were killed.
The IDF says it will continue its efforts to destroy terrorist infrastructure and prevent the strengthening of their combat capabilities in Lebanon.
