Israeli President Yitzhak Herzog on Monday expressed his deepest condolences to the Christian world on the death of Pope Francis, calling him “a man of deep faith, peace and boundless compassion” who strengthened ties between the Catholic Church and the Jewish people.
“He has dedicated his life to helping the underprivileged and calling for peace in a troubled world,” Herzog said in a special address published on the X network (formerly Twitter). The president stressed the pontiff’s special role in promoting interreligious dialogue and moral leadership in the face of global instability.
