Russian attack on Marhanets: 9 killed and more than 30 wounded after drone strike on bus carrying workers

On the morning of 23 April, Russian troops attacked the town of Marhanets in the Dnipro region with kamikaze and FPV drones. The attack killed at least 9 people and injured more than 30 others. This was reported by the head of the Dnipropetrovs’k Regional Military Administration Serhiy Lysak on Telegram.

“The aggressor struck with a kamikaze drone at Manganets. According to preliminary information, seven people were killed. Six more are wounded. The information is being clarified.”

As of 8:30 am, the death toll had risen to nine.

“The enemy attack claimed 9 lives. My condolences to the families and friends. The number of victims is constantly growing. As of now, it is more than 30 people,” added Lysak.

A Russian FPV drone hit a bus carrying employees of a local company. The State Emergency Service released photos from the scene of the tragedy, showing the wrecked vehicle and the injured and dead near it.

An agricultural enterprise in the Synelnyk district also burned down as a result of a drone strike. Two men aged 40 and 48 were injured in the Rayevska community. They will be treated on an outpatient basis.

In addition to Marhanets, Pokrovsk and Marhanets communities, as well as the district centre of Nikopol district, were also targeted by FPV drones. In these cases, there were no casualties.

According to Lysak, air defence forces shot down four enemy drones over the region. The air raid alert lasted throughout the morning, with authorities urging residents to stay in shelters.
