The Israeli Defence Forces have commented on an air raid alert incident that took place on Monday evening in Haifa, the Krayot and the Western Galilee. According to the military, the siren sounded after intercepting a missile fired from Yemen, but there was no threat to the population.

The IDF stressed that all detection systems worked properly and effectively tracked the threat. At the same time, during the launch of the missile, there was a technical failure in the data transmission system of the Israeli Air Force, which resulted in partial delay of the threat information and inaccurate transmission.

In this regard, public notification guidelines were automatically activated, which provided for shorter intervals between detection and warning than was actually required by the situation.

The IDF said that the problem was quickly fixed, and the national defence systems continue to operate normally. After the launch, the missile was successfully intercepted and no one was injured.

The incident has once again highlighted the importance of keeping air defence systems ready to meet any threat – even from distant regions such as Yemen.
