On the night of 23 April, Russia launched a massive combined attack on Kyiv, using Shahed kamikaze drones, Kalibr cruise missiles and ballistic missiles. In Kyiv, 9 people were killed and 63 others were injured. 42 victims were hospitalised, including 6 children. The strike hit mostly residential areas.

The Russians attacked Kyiv with cruise missiles, drones and ballistic missiles. Some residential buildings in the city have been destroyed, and people may still be trapped under the rubble. Rescue services are working continuously.

The fire engulfed garages, an administrative building and several non-residential buildings. The falling debris set cars and dry grass on fire. Firefighters from the State Emergency Service quickly extinguished the fire.

Damage was reported in five districts of the capital. Hundreds of utility workers, rescuers, psychologists and dog handlers are involved in the aftermath of the strike.

SES:

“Not only rescuers, but also psychologists are working at the sites of the shelling to help the victims. Search operations are ongoing.”

Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko:

“This is one of the largest attacks on Kyiv in recent times. Russia is targeting civilians. I urge you not to ignore the air raid alerts – it can save lives.”

The city’s infrastructure has been partially destroyed, there are power outages, and emergency crews are working.
