Massive explosion in the port of Bender Abbas: five killed, over 700 injured

A large-scale explosion and fire occurred in Iran’s largest commercial port, Shahid Rajai, near the city of Bandar Abbas, on 26 April, killing at least five people and injuring more than 700 others. This was reported by Al Jazeera.

According to preliminary data, the tragedy was caused by negligent storage of flammable substances. Significant destruction was recorded at the scene. According to local authorities, no oil and gas infrastructure facilities were damaged. The incident took place amid delicate negotiations between Iran and the US on a nuclear deal.
