Chinese President Xi Jinping has not recently called former US President Donald Trump. This was stated by Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun during a briefing, Ukrinform reports .

“As far as I know, the two heads of state have not spoken recently,” Guo said, commenting on Trump’s statement in an interview with Time magazine.

Earlier, Trump said that during his presidency, he received a call from Xi Jinping, who allegedly expressed concern over the high duties imposed by the White House on Chinese imports. However, the Chinese side denied this information.

Moreover, according to a spokesperson for the Chinese Foreign Ministry, Beijing and Washington have not held any consultations or negotiations on tariff policy to date.

China’s comment once again underscores Beijing’s desire to distance itself from any sensitive statements that could affect the complex Sino-US relationship, especially amid ongoing trade and political disagreements.
