On the night of 30 April, Russian forces launched a massive kamikaze drone attack on Kharkiv. The strikes destroyed residential buildings, garage cooperatives, city infrastructure, and damaged dozens of cars. At least 10 fires broke out in different parts of the city, the State Emergency Service of Ukraine reported on its Telegram channel.

According to preliminary information from the regional authorities, 38 people were injured. They were hospitalised in city hospitals, some of them are in serious condition.

Rescue services, firefighters, medics, police, volunteers and utility crews are currently working in the affected areas. They are eliminating the fire, clearing the rubble and evacuating residents from dangerous buildings. The work continues despite the high probability of repeated shelling by Russia.

The head of the Kharkiv Regional Military Administration urged residents not to ignore air raid warnings and to stay in shelters. Aid stations have also been set up in the city.

This is not the first large-scale attack on Kharkiv in recent weeks, which once again demonstrates Russia’s systematic attempt to destroy the city’s infrastructure and inflict maximum civilian casualties.
