On the eve of the Day of Remembrance of Fallen Soldiers and Victims of Terror in Israel, the Chief of the General Staff of the Israeli Defence Forces, Lieutenant General Eyal Zamir , held a touching meeting with IDF soldiers who suffered personal losses as a result of the war.
During the meeting, General Zamir stressed:
“Your ability to pick yourself up and keep wearing the uniform is truly touching and inspiring.”
The meeting was attended by:
- Major Dafna Shakuri is the widow of the deceased Major David Shakuri;
- Junior Lieutenant A. is the son of the late Warrant Officer (retired) Gil Boom and brother of the deceased Inbar Boom;
- Corporal A. is the brother of the deceased captain Oshri Moshe Butskhak.
The meeting took place as part of a series of commemorative events that accompany Remembrance Day, when the whole country bows its head to those who gave their lives for the security of the state.
General Zamir expressed his gratitude to the families of the victims for their courage, dedication and resilience in extremely difficult times. According to him, the heroism of those who did not break under the burden of loss and continued to serve is the basis of Israel’s strength.
