Washington continues to put pressure on Iran over its missile programme: this time, companies from China and Iran that supplied substances for solid-fuel missiles were sanctioned.
The US Treasury Department has announced a new package of sanctions against an international network that, according to US intelligence, provided Iran with key components for the production of missile fuel. The list includes five Chinese companies, one Iranian firm and six Iranian nationals.
The agency reported that the network was engaged in the purchase of sodium perchlorateand dioctyl sebacate, chemicals used in the production of solid fuel missiles, in particular for ballistic missiles, which are actively armed by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps.
“Iran’s aggressive missile programme poses a threat to the security of the United States, our allies, and stability in the Middle East. We will continue to act firmly to deny Tehran access to such resources,” said US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent.
The sanctions include an asset freeze and a ban on any financial transactions with US companies or individuals.
