President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy has signed a decree imposing new sanctions on a number of individuals and legal entities that, according to the authorities, contributed to Russia’s aggression against Ukraine. The sanctioned individuals include former advisor to the Presidential Office Oleksiy Arestovych and former MP Oleksandr Onyshchenko. The relevant decrees No. 267, No. 268 and No. 269 were published on the President’s website.
According to the decision of the National Security and Defence Council of Ukraine, the sanctions include asset freezes, restrictions on trade, cessation of transit of resources through the territory of Ukraine and other restrictive measures. These steps are aimed at increasing economic and political pressure on individuals who, in the opinion of the Ukrainian authorities, are involved in undermining the national security and sovereignty of the country.
President Zelenskyy stressed that Ukraine will continue to take measures to protect its national interests and bring to justice those who facilitate aggressive actions against the state.
