The United States of America has officially approved the sale of equipment and services to Ukraine for the operation of F-16 fighter jets for a total of $310 million. This was reported by the Pentagon’s Defence Security Cooperation Agency (DSCA).
The package includes spare parts, maintenance equipment, training systems and services for Ukrainian pilots and technicians. The implementation of this decision is expected to contribute to the effective combat readiness of the Ukrainian Air Force.
“This sale will support U.S. foreign policy and national security by strengthening Ukraine’s defence capabilities as an important partner in deterring Russian aggression,” the Pentagon said in a statement.
Official approval by the US Congress has already been received. The delivery is expected to be part of a broader defence cooperation programme between Kyiv and Washington. The Pentagon stressed that the sale will not change the military balance in the region, but will significantly improve Ukraine’s capabilities.
