President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that after a personal meeting in the Vatican, former US President Donald Trump began to perceive Russia’s war against Ukraine differently. He said this during a conversation with journalists, Ukrinform reports.

According to Zelenskyy, the Russians had previously convinced the American side that it was Ukraine that did not want to end the war. However, after the summit in Saudi Arabia and conversations in the Vatican, the US began to question Moscow’s statements.

“I’m sure that after our meeting in the Vatican, President Trump began to look at things a little differently. We will see. This is his vision, his choice. But we behaved constructively and decently, and this is important,” Zelenskyy stressed.

The head of state also stressed that any initiatives that do not come directly from the Kremlin are perceived by the Russian side with hostility. That is why, according to him, it will be impossible to achieve results without strong sanctions and political pressure on the Putin regime.

“For now, they have comfortable conditions. But Russia’s economy is already cracking. I am not afraid – I am even glad that they are not doing so well,” the President added.
