During an official visit to Prague, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced specific agreements with the Czech Republic to establish a joint training school for Ukrainian pilots on F-16 fighter jets. The Head of State made the announcement at a joint press conference with Czech Prime Minister Petr Fiala.

“We appreciate the Czech Republic’s willingness to help develop our combat aviation. One of the results of this visit is the detailing of the project to create a Ukrainian-Czech F-16 school. We are ready to implement this project as soon as possible,” Zelenskyy stressed.

In turn, Fiala said that Ukrainian pilots would be trained on F-16 and L-39 aircraft directly at Czech air bases. According to him, other partners from the international “coalition of the willing” will also join the initiative.

This is not the first step by the Czech Republic to support the modernisation of the Ukrainian Armed Forces. In addition to military aid, Prague is actively involved in training, equipment repair and ammunition supply programmes.
