In 2024, the European Union exported goods worth €42.8 billion to Ukraine, while imports from Ukraine totalled €24.5 billion. This was reported by Eurostat, emphasising that the EU’s trade surplus reached €18.3 billion, one of the highest in the years of partnership.
Leading goods from the EU to Ukraine:
- mineral fuel – €6.8 billion,
- electrical equipment – 4.3 billion euros,
- machinery – €4.2 billion.
Fuel exports grew particularly rapidly, by €4.1 billion compared to 2021. This is due to a decrease in supplies from Russia and Belarus, which were replaced by imports from the EU.
The EU imported mostly from Ukraine:
- Cereals – €4.4 billion,
- Fats and oils – €3.1 billion,
- oilseeds – 2.5 billion euros.
Eurostat notes that the growth of Ukrainian agricultural exports has become critical to ensuring Europe’s food security and preserving Ukraine’s economy in times of war.
