Google has added the Gemini Nano artificial intelligence language model to the Chrome browser for PCs, which helps to detect new types of fraud, including fake technical support. This was reported by Engadget.

The innovation is part of the Enhanced Protection feature. The uniqueness of Gemini Nano is that it runs directly on the user’s device, which allows it to detect threats even without access to cloud servers.

The model is able to recognise complex fraudulent schemes on websites that were previously invisible to security mechanisms. Google reports that it is already planning to integrate the technology into Android, and later expand its capabilities to other types of online threats.

In addition, Chrome users on Android will receive updated protection against fraudulent push notifications. If the system detects a suspicious message, it will warn the user and offer to block it or unsubscribe. In the event of a false alarm, the user will be able to allow notifications from this website.
