On Saturday, 10 May, Indian Foreign Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar confirmed that a ceasefire agreement had been reached with Pakistan. He made the announcement on social media platform X.
“Today, India and Pakistan have reached an understanding on a ceasefire and military operations. India has consistently taken a firm and uncompromising stand against terrorism in all its forms and manifestations. It will continue to adhere to this position,” the Foreign Minister wrote.
Earlier in the day, US President Donald Trump announced that India and Pakistan, with US mediation, had agreed to an immediate truce and would begin negotiations on a neutral platform.
The talks are expected to cover a wider range of security issues, including the fight against terrorism and the reduction of tensions in the region.
