Poland has withdrawn its consent to the operation of the Consulate General of the Russian Federation in Krakow due to the involvement of Russian special services in a large-scale sabotage – the arson of the Marivilska 44 shopping centre in Warsaw, which took place exactly one year ago.
This was stated by Polish Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski on the social network X.
“Due to the evidence that the Russian special services committed a shameful act of sabotage against the shopping centre on Marivilska Street, I have decided to withdraw my consent to the activities of the Russian Consulate in Krakow,” Sikorski wrote.
As reported, on the night of 12 May 2024, the entire Mariwilska 44 shopping centre in Warsaw burned down as a result of a deliberate arson attack. There were no casualties, but the damage amounted to millions of euros. Later, Polish special services detained three people suspected of working for Russia.
Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk officially confirmed that the fire was the result of a sabotage organised by Russian special services and promised a tough response.
